WWII Vets Reunite After 75 Years

JOLLY TIME® Happy News: WWII Vets Reunite After 75 Years

Getting together with friends after some time apart is always a great feeling, but for two veterans who haven’t seen each other in over half a century, this is one reunion we are already getting the tissues out for.

As reported by hindustantimes.com, a video of this heartfelt moment was posted on Instagram by Erin Shaw, granddaughter of the 96-year-old Navy vet being reunited with his best friend from WWII. We’ve all gone a few months without talking to our best friend, but 75 years?! The duo got separated after one of the men was shipped off to Okinawa and they never knew if each other survived.

It wasn’t until the families of the two men came in contact via social media that they found out. The instant the men saw each other, they dropped their belongings and embraced in a long-overdue hug. Erin writes that “love and friendship can endure anything” – and we agree.
